Objective

Explore and experiment with typographic form in a new way and take ideas and techniques from various explorations. Then, choose a poster to redesign into a set of three versions. Be able to defend the work by articulating and envisioning an internal logic, narrative, strategy, process, and explanation.

Approach

The 2017 crime thriller movie Hangman is about a homicide detective who recruits his retired partner to help him catch a serial killer that leaves clues in the style of a children’s guessing game. The redesigned poster translates letters as a graphic element, combined with strands of thread, to represent the enigmatic atmosphere of the film.
